Big problem... i think
so, driving home lastnight my 02' starts to buck just a little at first on cruise. kicked cruise off and also shut comp box off. steadily got worse very quickly also water temp gauge going nuts dropping to nothing then normal then off the deep end. Finally dropped to dead idle at 70mph and check engine light on. Did this for a second or two then power came back but very erratic. all the while h2o temp gauge all over. actual water temp was fine. this all started about 75 miles from home. by the 40 mile mark I was down to 50 mph max w/ throttle on the floor. Engine not laboring just would not make over about 1300rpm for the most part. died to idle 6 or 8 times for a few seconds. Stopped a few times and let it idle and would jump up in rpm and down every so often just like i was tapping my foot on the throttle. Codes? oh i have codes lol. 1693,238,563,118,577,343,113,123,1286. Thinking maybe ecm is lunched. what do you guys think? starts immediatly like nothing is wrong. 6 spd.

Usually when you have a boatload of codes that pop up all at once, it's a ground problem somewhere. I would clean the battery connectors thoroughly, as well as all the grounds under the hood, and check and clean the harness connectors as well. I am willing to bet that will solve your problem.

Yea! Get your box off. Without box I would go with other post on grounds. It does seem the codes favor loss of signal ground from sensors to computer.

Agree...sounds electrical. Nothing engine related.
My bet is the Comp box. They have had their share of problems. Disconnect completely (MAP sensor and Data Port) and see if all is normal.
02's have not had the ground wire problems that earlier 2nd gens had.... but possibly if not the Comp. Clean Battery terminals are important, IMO.

pretty much every code is sensor voltage high. sitting idle will rev up and down like you are burping throttle. totally randomly tho. kind of comical when you are standing beside it. lol. maye alternator is spiking voltage. planning on doing hard reset and running w/ alternator fuse out to see if it happens just running off batterys.

Mine did what yours is and it was high voltage from the ECM. It fried 7 temp. sensors and the dealer didn't have a clue what to do. Took it to another dealer and they replaced the ECM and no more problems.

I had a similar prob in my 02 ho.instead of buckin like a rodeo bull I lost power and all my gauges went nuts.cleaning the connections fix the prob so fare. a small hint that will help slow down corotion is a little dialectice grease on the connections seems to help.dont forget the connectors to the ecm a dab will help prevent sticking.
