Ball joint won't take grease

Tried my best and it won't grease. Changed my nipple and jacked it up and turned the wheels both ways and nothing. What do I do if anything?

I have had to take the nipple off and clean out hardened contaminated grease with a fine flat screwdriver. Then screw on a new nipple and the ball joint should take grease unless the joint has been neglected for a long time in which case you will just have to wait till the joint wears out and then replace the joint.

I have a Craftsman pneumatic jobber, they usually will pump into just about any fitting.
It was a decent, reasonable investment ($35.00 in exchange for not getting carpal tunnel).

Depending on the design of the ball joint/Zerk passage and the pressure generated by the grease gun, sometimes it helps to take the weight of the truck off the ball joint when greasing it. Jack it up at the frame or put it on a frame lift.

I was hitting around 20 +/- points on a tractor and loader also. Some of them are hard to get to, so once you got the end on, just pulling a trigger is sweet. Trust me on this one friend, for me it was worth it. Plus, who doesn't like Air Tools???
Sometimes I hook up my impact gun just to hear it rev.

A man after my own heart. Why walk when the ride is pleasent. I like to work smart, not hard. The person that chimed a little hard work won't hurt anybody never did a darn thing in his life except tell more lies.
Try running a drill through the grease passage. Sometimes in this automated world the machine misses a hole. If that doesn't work, run it til it breaks and replace.

I've had good success with using a drop of light engine oil instead of grease and pumping it in. It may take some days until it dissolves the old hardened grease but on oldtimers it's very much better to pump in oil on 5 occasions until it's freed instead of hunting for the new balljoint through all the classic markets for months.

I use a tool like this one, just hook it up to the zerk and hit with a hammer, works every time. Available from almost any place that sells tools for $20.
