Auto for Manual Swap
I was just wondering if anyone here has swapped out their auto for a 5/6 speed. How difficult is it in these Dodge's? On old Chevys it is pretty simple; the whole peddle assemblly is a whole unit that is easily swapped. I'm thinking if I could find a donar truck or other parts cheap enough, why not?
Or am I better off just spending the 4 grand on a "built" auto? Any thoughts?

im lookin into the same thing kinda sorta......I hate these stupid 4spd autos...junk... o well any way i think its on the 12 valve eng and drivetrain a guy just posted he swapped in a 5 spd and it can be done for under 2500 but he had to mod several things not to bad i just dont know how similar it would be to swapping out in our version trucks
in addition to the tranny and clutch you would need the clutch hydraulics assembly and pedal, a new console for the shifter tower, and i think a different crossmember. also you would need a t-case with the bigger input shaft for the manual transmissions.
i like my 6spd and it should be good for towing, but if i ever found someone wanting to do a straightup swap, i would gladly give up my 6spd and SBC DD 3850, SRT-10 shifter and everything for a built auto.
a built auto is about $6k
an NV5600 and 3850 dual disc will also run about $6k unless you get it used somewhere. my last quote for a NEW (100% rebuilt) nv5600 was $4145.
