I did look into this. If you have a spare manual truck it would be fairly easy. You can take parts from that truck and build your non manny up. But if you do not have that, and you want to do it right. It will cost about 5000 plus. It would be cheeper to bulletproof the auto you have now. But if you still want to research this. I have a email at home I can send ya. send me a pm with your email and I will send it when I get home tonight.

bulletproof the auto about
4000+

convert the auto to handshaker
5000+

Well i think if you can find a good price on some of the parts it shouldn't be too bad. NV5600 and clutch for like 1500 and what ever the rest of the things would cost and of course lots of time

Even if you get a tranny cheap unless you have a donor rig it will cost quite a bit unless you're lucky at the junk yard as most of the misc parts needed are dealer only. New steering column, PCM, pedal and linkage come to mind

I know you just bulletproofed a ford slush o matic. but It will be cheeper. Even if you can get a 5600 for 1500. A NV4500 conversion is still almost 5 grand. and it is around 1800 bones. You should have 7 emails in your inbox. That is all I have. I will be bulletproofing my auto with a ats tranny sometime late summer to fall. So I can add a little power. Only looking to do a #10 plate and 3gsk. But who knows, I might get bombitis that so many get.

This really depends on what you wont the truck to do. If it is for towing, the six speed really shines, or that is what my friends at work say. As for cost, that depends on how you wont to go about the conversion. I have heard that the steering column can be left in and just pull the pin and remove the shifter? I have heard that there are Dodge dealers that give a better price? Mopar4less.com or Dodgeparts.com That may be a way to help control cost.
I have a 95 4x4, the 95 need a lot of things to bring it up to BULLET proof, if possible. That is not including a change of the computer, ( to raise the shift from 3 to 4 ) cooling lines, gauges. When you add all of that what is the price?
If you wont the cheapest just drive the stock transmission till it quits. The automatic if not hotrodded it MAY last till you could buy a newer truck. I have to carry a can of contact cleaner to clean the tps switch when it acts up. There is a parking lot of Dodge diesels and the only one that gave problem is a automatic, before and after the bullet proof treatment. Sure things happen but Bullet PROOF? Better than stock, sure.
A cheap way to do the conversion is just find a truck that has the parts and buy all of the parts for a price that is good for all. If you buy a automatic I would get a crate transmission or exchange that has good warrenty , every part from end to end. Just an idea Jim
