APPS code????
Does a Edit APPS sensor give codes? I'd say yes right? OK heres my problem, driving on the HWY at normal crusing speed I get a dead non -responsive pedal (throttle). No codes showed up. It has happened a couple of time in the past 2 days. It took it to my dealer to have them see if anything comes up. They told me low FP and transfer pump is on its way out. No problem I just got my BD big line and Holley pump kit today. Anyway my question is does a Edit APPS give codes?? The dealer "said" they checked for proper voltage but I think they are *******.
Any thoughts??

Yes, APPS throws codes. Injection pump failure is similar, with the dead pedal issue ... it doesn't always throw codes.
To check the voltage of the APPS, you need to remove the bracket to see what it's set at before you can compare it with the reading at the pin ... so, yes, they are a bunch of *******!

When the dead pedal occurs the FP stays the same as it did before the dead pedal. I thought when a IP goes its gone without any kinda warning? My truck starts up with no problems right away. FP is 12 @ idle 8-9 @ crusin and wot 4psi , thats why I am installing the big line and pump kit. Is there any way to check toi see if the IP is shagged other that FP into the pump??
My IP is dead and has been for a couple of months, but I can still drive the truck ... normally too! It usually doesn't show until I've driven for approx. 1 hour on the freeway. I'll be cruising along at 75 and then I have loss of power (dead pedal). If I drop speed, the engine kicks back in like there was never a problem. The truck starts without problem. My fuel pressure is 14 @ idle, 12 @ cruise and 11 @ WOT ... so I don't think that makes any difference.
I'm not saying that it's your IP, but it's worth keeping an eye on it. Do a search for "dead pedal" and I'm sure you'll find plenty of reading.
Good luck!

Mine had done the same thing. Traveling down a highway it goes to an idle and if you push in the clutch and press on the accelarator pedal twice it come back to normal. Try agian on those codes. My code came up to be P-1693. Whch told me that I had to get it scanned. I took it up to Auto-Zone and the next code that came up was P-0121. APPS is going.
piperca, i hope you mean your lift pump. a 'dead' injection pump won't run. and if you DO mean your lift pump (no fuel pressure to IP), it will be working towards killing your IP anyways. the IP uses fuel to run the engine as well as to cool the ip itself. CHANGE IT!
in2gpn, i had the same problem a while back. reset the apps and no change. check all of your grounds- engine, frame, batteries... ESPECIALLY the ground for your Comp. If you have it grounded to the intake horn like the instructions say, move it to the battery or left fender (where the battery has a small wire going)

Beast2B, I am talking about the IP ... maybe I should have said dying. I replaced my APPS a couple of months back because I was getting the P0122 code. I tried the voltage reset, but it didn't hold. After the APPS was replaced, I got the dead pedal again ... this time it threw the P0216. It has thrown it a couple of times since, but seems to be driving normally, 90% of the time. My LP has good pressure, as mentioned before, so that didn't matter to the IP.
I was at a diesel shop yesterday that rebuilds VP's They told me there are three solenoids inside the pump and it sounds like one of the solenoids went bad. He also mentioned that the timing advance is out, since it threw the P0216. They use a new housing with each rebuild, as they've noticed the older housings are causing much of the problems. They told me $1000 will put me back in the game. I guess $1000 doesn't sound like much, if you say it fast!

in2gpn, good luck! fixed a lot of problems I was chasing.
piperca, YIKES! $1000 doesn't sound too bad for the IP. Seems like there should be some serious driveability issues if a solenoid goes out... What do they do about the electronics? Does the new housing come with a new board? i don't know if it has been proven, but the effects of dead lift pump>> no cooling of VP44>> electronics overheat and get goofy or fail.
BTW, I can't say a-thousand-bucks fast enough to keep from shedding one big tear! Seems like there are so many bombs getting the back-burner with those kind of repairs.
