Antifreeze
Re:Antifreeze
Hmm :- , I just added about a quart of NAPA antifreeze, it was the same color as what was in it. Did I just mess up ??? ? I thought you could mix any green with any green, just didn't want to mix different colors.

Re:Antifreeze
I just did a complete flush/fill. I used the Shell Rotella ELC. It's supposed to be good for 600K miles w/ a booster added at 300K. Guess I don't have to worry about changing that again any time soon.... ;D

HOAT is the (hybrid organic acid technology) corrosion inhibitor package to protect your engines from liner pitting and corrosion. i was going to use the Zerex G-05 by valvoline with the same HOAT. i think it's the same as Mopar 5/100 antifreeze. I heard that the extended life antifreezes corroded some of the welds on the heater core. Interested in what others have heard

Reguardless of what anti-freeze you use the coolant will become acidic in time. That is the most common failure of the cooling system is the coolant eating the metals. (Heater cores, radiators, etc)
You can test the coolant with a DVM to see if it acidic or not. If the coolant is acidic it will show voltage! Straight distilled water and new anti-freeze will not!
So regardless of how expensive and what they are rated for I still change the coolant every 36K or 3 Yrs! PERIOD! Not worth losing a radiator / heater core for a few bucks worth of coolant!

Use either Mopar or Zerex G-05. Do not mix anything else with these coolants. If you don't want to run the factory Mopar fill or Zerex G-05, you should drain system and flush thoroughly. Then you can fill system with anything you want to.
JMO--I'd use the HOAT. This is not a big ticket item. You only have to flush and refill every 5yrs or 100,00 miles. Why not use the coolant recommended and not worry about problems with incomplete flushing of HOAT and reactions with different coolant types. The correct part no. for the Mopar is 5066386-AA (this is a new part no.). I paid $14.00/gal at my dealer. You will need to purchase four gallons to drain, flush (check svc. lit. for correct procedure), and refill with 50/50 mix. you will have a little left over.
