Another lift pump Q

Just got my Dakota Digital fuel pressure gauge hooked up (thanks Rod). Readings are 11.2 idle, 8.0 cruising, 2.6 and still dropping at WOT. Readings are after filter. New filter, by the way. From what I have read, this would indicate a weak lift pump. 66000 miles. 12 miles to the gallon. Would this be a cause for the low mileage. Have tightened intake plumbing and am thinking about replacing the IAT sensor. Also reset APPS. Are these readings low enough for the dealer to replace lift pump? What parameters do they go by? Dont want to wait till I see 0 psi. Thanks

Kinda depends on the dealer, but the accepted limit is less than 8 psi at any time.
Your 2.6 and dropping without a box is something to get checked out.
The aftermarket larger banjo bolts can also help with more stable fuel delivery after your pump problem is resolved.

Thanks shovelhead. I,ve already gotten the larger bolts, just havent installed them yet. Also thinking of using Rods fuel lines that come with the Holley black kit. Of course, AFTER new lift pump.

Jim I would try to get the dealer to replace it. Check with Luke if your not too far from him.

Check this thread from 99guy before you take your truck in for a lift pump.
You'll be ready for what you'll probably have to deal with.
Lift Pump vs The Dealer

Of course you should'nt have this problem at Luke's dealer.

Some time you have to tell a little lie.
tell dealer it's hard to start and low on power that should
get them started.

Whoa, déjà vu, head spinning … Yes read my thread https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=9035. I am still battling an incompetent service department. I’ll post update to the above thread later but for now my advice... Call more than one dealer service department and sound them out about your problem, ask a few questions, you may be able to tell from the answers you get which dealerships to avoid, and I guarantee there are some that need avoiding like the plague!!! >
I seem to remember a post with a link to a dealership rating guide but it escapes me right now. ??? Maybe someone else can post that link again here. Good Luck!

YJim
Tell them it is stumbling under acc. and will not pull at all. Some dealers are good and know when pumps are bad, and others think as long as the truck is running it's fine. I just had pumps replaced in both trucks and both were still running like no problem with 8psi idle and 0wot.
