Question allison swap?

ive got a 99' 2500 4x4 94,000 miles, auto trans. my tranny is going out and i was wondering if anybody had heard anything about swapping a allison into my truck? Or... would it be better to rebuild my stock? i want a strong transmission, but i was looking at the allison cause i heard it would get better mpg. any imput would be appreciated!

The Allison is not any stronger if you start modding your truck, and mileage will be same if not worse (don't believe all the Chevy guys tell you).
Few people did it, main problem is electronics and tuning, the mechanical part is not bad, do a search on this site.
I would rebuild yours, the new hi-perf rebuilders (Goerend, ATS, etc) can make it as strong as you want and it will cost less.
