allison 3000 swap
allison 3000 swap
the ford F750 medium duty trucks came with a 5.9 cummins and a 3000 series allison. has anyone tried this or thought about it, i imagne you cud get the computer programing between the two of them. 4wd models would be a divorced transfer case. i work on fire trucks and big rigs and these trannys can take a HUGE beating and not skip a beat @ the 80,000 weight rating... they would even be working behind our "little" trucks
Tha tranny is way too big to try and stuff into a Dodge. You would have to do a body lift or start cutting out and modifying the floor. You wouldn't be happy with the performance or mileage, either. I don't see the benefit. You add weight, lose power, lose efficiency and for what? That I am not sure. You could build a very solid 47RE to handle just about whatever a 5.9 could throw at it for likely less than what a rebuilt 3000 would be worth and swap costs.
yea i suppose a built 47RE would be cheaper and better for the floor boards. allthough i dont think you would lose efficiency behind a bombed 5.9 it would just be a mess to get it to work. i guess this died before it got off the ground. i just thought it would be fun to take something away from chevy
i guess i should just go buy a 750 and drop a ISM or an ISX in it
