Question Allison 3000 Tranny Question

With the new 6.7 making the power, how much HP and TQ do you think a stock 3000 could handle, and are there places (that can) and ways (to make) the tranny stronger. I ask because I may end up with a custom F650 in the near future for heavier hauling and the 6.7 with the 3000 tranny is my best option I believe. I would like to have the HP in the 600 range and TQ in the 1500. Do you think that the tranny can be made to handle it?

If you want that kind of power why don't you look into the CAT engine option? It's not quite 600hp but it's got plenty of torque.

It will be Diesel's beater!

The CAT option has less torque (860 vs. 1000) than the 6.7 and is not "moddable". My concern is with the tranny not so much the engine. Unfortunately, I cannot get the 8.3 Cummins in there!

Depending on what series the 3000 is (highway series, truck series, etc.) it's capable of handling 300-400hp and 900-1100 lbft torque at the input shaft.

I would call a tranny shop that deals with beefing up the Allison like Suncoast. If the internals are like the 1000 they should be able to help you out.

From what I understand the 3000 series is a completely different animal. Only the 1000, 2000 series use some of the same internal parts.

Bump, more replies would be nice!!! Im thinking bout gettin me a F650 supercruizer too in about a year. And there is way to many options to be thought of which comes with alot of research!!!!!!!

Of course picking the engine and tranny will be most difficult!!!!! And yes, modding would have to be done for the durability of the drivetrain getting really abused on a daily basis!!!

Hey Wiggs, Is there a reason why your going with the 6.7 over the cat. I plan on getting the cat motor cause of the better durability. I like the hp and tq the 6.7 could make modded but i would be purchasing this truck as a work vehicle. I plan on getting a 6 car hauler with this vehicle. Thanks
