47RE "Hot" Line Pressure

Does anyone know off hand the pressure that the trans fluid is being pushed through to the trans cooler?

Also are there any kits that eliminate the internal filter with a external spin on type? Or could one safely plumb a remote filter inline and run without the internal filter?

tried researching the same questions. I have the spin-on set up, I just need to figure out the fitting sizes...any yes the pressure.

Do you plan on tossing the internal filter?

I would keep it, but have an additional one "in-line" to filter the same micron if not, even better. Any idea what the internal filter does?

The pressure at the port is the highest. It is lowest at the return port.

So, it depends on where you are measuring it.

Think of a garden hose turned all the way on with nothing on the end of the hose. It flows freely out of the end. But there is pressure coming right out of the faucet.

Make sense?

You could measure as high as 57 PSI with standard VB. The performance VB could go considerablly higher. Pressures not published to my knowledge.
Filter thoughts. Have read the restriction of in line filter is not desired. Makes it harder to push cooled fluid into lub areas. Definitelly do not remove the filter in pan. It protects the pump and entire VB from debris that might find way into oil. The inline filter would be filtering return fluid from converter and or regulator return circuits(?)
Generally a extra cooler in line between front cooler line and first cooler on right side of engine, would be money better spendt. Large so as to not restrict. JMT's or IMHO

Pressures are published in the FSM. 65 PSI is about the highest the cooler will see, according to the FSM.

I would be filtering the hot side, the cool side would still free flow.

And where does the hot side go to. Restrict the hot side and restrict the cool side also. Still recomend cooler instead.
