6AN vs JIC Big line

When I bought my truck it already had a relocated (to the frame in front of the fuel tank) carter lift pump installed. I dont know which kit this is and my wife has the truck at the moment so I will have to wait till later to see what size fuel hose is used, but I may replace the filter inlet fitting to eliminate the banjo bolt. I also want to replace the line between the filter and the vp44. I noticed that the Vulcan Big line kit comes with JIC fittings. I can make my own Big line kit with anodized AN6 fittings from Summit Racing. Does anyone know if AN6 fittings are less restrictive than the JIC ones used in the Vulcan kit?

JIC and AN are basically the same thing.

AN is for airplanes, and navel stuff, so they have slightly tighter tolerances then the JIC stuff, which is used for industrial applications.

The vulcan kit uses -8 fittings. Banjo bolts are 12mm. So you'll have to find some metric to JIC's for that, which I found was a royal pain.

Yeah, the trick is finding the fittings that have the 12mm threads. I can't remember if it's 12mm x 1.25 or 12mm x 1.5, but Summit Racing has both of them.

I think Weber carburetor inlet fittings are the same thread.

Thanks guys, I think I will just go with the vulcan big line filter to pump kit. It uses JIC fitings, 1/2 inch line, and is reasonably priced.

ya the vulcan big line kit is an-8 fitting's with 1/2 inside diameter hose.it also get's rid of the banjo bolt and small rubber hose from lift pump to filter housing.one of the fitting's has an 1/8npt tapped and a 1/8npt to an-4 fitting for your pressure gauge.it come's with an an cap if you don't have a gauge too

Tate, I got the #6 jic to 12mm x 1.5 fittings from greenline hose in Calgary. If you wanted #8 I'm sure they have or could get them.

I got mine from Ability back in July. Spent a whole day looking for them though. The kicker for me was finding 14mm banjo to -4 AN fittings. Ability had those too.
