what year did dodge start putting the 6-speed in their truck. NV5600 i believe?

A very few in '99. Don't think there were any in '98. I bought one of the last ones sold in '98 and there were none on the lot.

99-00, Standard Output engine, with 1 1/4" input shaft, also has the smaller clutch, 12" i believe.

01-02, High Output engine, with 1 3/8" input shaft, larger clutch, 13" IIRC.

1999 saw the first time for the NV5600, there were only 1500 trucks built. The order window only opened for a very short time, and those owners had to wait about 5 months.
Then for the first few months of 2000 production, the NV5600 was again available in a little bit more quantity, before they took it off the order list again. Both the 99 and 00 NV5600 had the 1-1/4" input shaft and used the same 12.25" clutch as the 5spd NV4500.

Then for 2001 is when the NV5600 came with the 1-3/8" input shaft and 13" clutch.
