5.9 Starving for fuel if tank only 1/2 full

I have a 01' that will crank and run fine until you get down to about 1/2 tank of fuel. Of course once running and hit 1/2 tank, it is fine. But if you let it sit over night, it will not bust off without running the primary pump 3-4 times with the key.

What could possibly be the issue.

Sounds like the return bypass is leaking and you are losing prime. Is your pump an in tank? If so I'd bet money that is the problem. My neighbor just went through the same thing. Replaced the in tank with a Fass unit and a draw straw. Problem solved.

Yeah, I agree with whiskers.

If it was clogging the siphon tube it would be constant.

Check the fittings on the fuel system, it can draw air without dripping fuel.

I will double check all fittings and let you know what I find.

Thank you for the replies.
