53 Block Class Action Settlement?

I just received info on a class action suit brought against Cummins for the 53 block crack problem. You can read the info here and make your own determination of how to proceed.

www.cumminspickupblocksettlement.com

Maybe this will help some of you? The proposed $500 reimbusement for cost incurred to repair or replace a covered pattern 53 engine block hardly covers much. JMO. Sorry if this is posted in another thread.

I got a post card refering me to the refund site today. I hope this is on the up and up.
I replaced my engine several years ago I have no idea what the serial numbero of the engine was. But I do know it was a #53 and it was cracked on the passengerside. The previous owner had coated the side of the engine with black epoxy and after a few weeks it started leaking coolant like crazy.
I sure would like to get the $500 since it is better than nothing.

Recieved my card today. No leaks & no repairs however I only have 47,000 miles on it. I haven't looked to see what block I have.

I got the same post card too. I have a 55 block so it doesnt matter much to me. However i did notice it stated "UP TO $500.00" They might throw ya a twenty dollar bill and send ya on the way. I wouldnt get my hopes up. But best of luck to who are going to.

i sent off my package today of all the pictures and paperwork they requested.
we'll see what happens and how soon, I'll guess 1-3 years?

if Cummins (1800 DIESELS claim center) would have just given me the parts at cost as i asked for, i would not have joined that suit.

I received the notice as well, going to have to dig up my cracked block pictures, and pictures of the welding repair. I'm glad someone finally went after them on the matter, but it seems like even if they have to pay the max of $500 to everyone, they still got away with an awful lot.

i have a few friends at Cummins in Grand Rapids, i also purchase big trucks with Cummins engines in them. they told me in GR that they were still helping people out with this block issue, call the DEISELS number.
i called the 1-800 number every week for areound 6-8 weeks, they were just leading me on until one day they slammed the door in my face about 4 weeks ago. i wonder if they knew first this suit was coming?

A guy at work has the same truck as me and was asking about the 53 block letter he got from Dodge/Cummins, but said he didn't think he had one.

Well I crawled under there and there it was, the dreaded 53. I would have rather told him I ran over his dog. He's only got 48K on it so if it wasn't 11 years old it would still have some kind of warranty.

Has anyone figured out about when they crack?
