24v parts into a 12v block

I had somebody ask me a question the other day, and now im currious. Has anybody done this?

24 valve head and pistons onto a 12v block. ive never torn a 24v down and built it so i dont know if there are similarities in the castings or what.

If so isnt the pre 53 pre 98 block the most desirable then why couldnt you swap cams (custom grind), heads pistons pushrods ect and use the p7100 and custom injectors to make it all work. Basically the 24v guts, small parts pistons and the 12valve injection, timing cover, rods, crank and block?

I know this is vague, im just posing this question for the sake of conversation and therory. Something to ponder and break apart the whys and why nots, into details of how could. Somebody out there might do it what do you guys think.

I believe you are correct... putting 24v pistons, injectors, and head in a 12v block is doable. You would essentially have a p-pumped 24v. Your not smoking crack.

I kinda was thinkin about crack, that or diesel fumes

Thank you it was just a subject for conversation but, but afterwords it made me wonder why if everyone is having so many problems with the 53 block they arent picking up these older 12v blocks and retrofitting them or in this case doing the P-pump conversion in reverse

It defeinately made me think after that kid mentioned it. just was wondering what road blocks there might be with the block and guts, the injection is a whole different animal.

Maybe ill have to try it when i rebuild my 12v, i know i could round up a head and set of pistons for nothing, the rest would cost ya though. Maybe not. I have read that the 24vs dont respond well to the P pump best i have heard it 16 mpg in the 400 hp ball park wonder what it would take to get the mileage up to 12v status 400hp w/ a 12v is still 18-20 mpg, something is not dialing in properly.

Seems like the centered injector and better flow should result in better mileage, maybe the lower pop-off pressuree is not acheiving an efficient atomization of the fuel even when using custom EDM injectors.

Better stick to just getting the **** thing back on the road turbos and all
