24-Valve Longblock ?????
Has anyone ever bought a long block? or does anyone know how much one would cost? Also i remember someone on here put in a Marine motor a 275Hp one not sure who though. we are thinkin bout building up a motor on a stand in case one of the two trucks we have the block cracks Both are dreaded 53 blocks. Could you just buy these at any Cummins Dealer?

Cummins sells them, but with no exchange the price would be quite high. Last years prices were short block 3500, long block 5000+, and complete engine up near 8000, but with the core added in it would probably be out of the price range that you want. Your best bet would be to find a complete commercial engine like I did. I paid 4000 complete and running with less than 4000 miles on it. The commercial engine has different cam, stronger head and teflon coated piston skirts. For a work truck the vp44 from the commercial engine is an asset.

I found mine on dieselenginetrader.com which was given to me by one of the members here. I would doubt that the individual that had mine would have another but it would be listed there if he does. Try all the combinations of name to look for it, try 275, isb, cummins b, etc.

I put a Jasper reman in mine last year. I got a long block for about $4600. Comes with a 1 year unlimited mileage warrantee. Just look in your yellow pages for a Jasper outlet in your area or call 800-827-7455. I've installed Jasper reman units for about 15 years and they have one of the best warrantees and will stand behind their products. I can't say enough good things about the company.

If you have away to pull the eng. (you must?)......I would do like Haulin Or I did,,the results from a ballanced eng. with your favorit coatings on the pistons are fabulus....less noise, a safty firewall on the piston........and Cummins weekest pt the plastic piston coolers.Take the time to have your local machine shop make you up a set.

Haulin,
I found one a new test engine with no electrics, flywheel or bell housing for 6500 or 7500 no exchange. thats is for the same motor you have. is that pretty good? If anyone has ever heard of it it is at Penn Diesel Service.

I never had any dealings with Penn Diesel, but the price for a rebuilt sounds about right I guess. If you get it I would check the CPL number though, should be 2080.
