2002 NV5600 trashed

Hauling a 24' stock trailer this past weekend, the tranny went kaput in our 2002 2500 4x4 24v 6spd.180,000 miles I can put into 4lo and 1st gear, but no other gear or reverse. Something is making terrible grinding noise inside case.

I have a few options that I am aware of. Here is where I need your help.

Rebuild current tranny quotes of 1k-2k plus r&r of 450.00

I have located a donor truck for 3k. It is the same truck as ours, with 130,000 miles, has only towed a trailer two times in its life, and they were light loads. The donor truck has a wrecked front right axle area. no body damage, no frame damage.

Am I better off buying the donor truck, and pulling the tranny from it to put in our 180k truck. then selling the truck for parts.

Or do I pull the front axle out of our truck, and install it in the 130,000 truck.

Also, how much should I ask for a parts truck with a good body, 24v 130,000k, 4x4 ext cab in charcoal grey?

Honestly I'd bet you could get all your money back and then some if you bought the donor and parted it out. The catch is you have to deal with the time/hassle/effort of selling all that stuff off, shipping it, etc. It just depends how much your time is worth to you.

BTW if you get the parts truck can I get both rear tail lights?

Id say the truck is worth the 3k. Like brianpgriset said its just dealing with taking the parts off and shipping them is where the hassle and pain in the butt comes in.

the engine alone on the donor truck can get twice what you paid for it.

I made an offer on the truck yesterday, and looks like we have a deal.

I am thinking about pulling the tranmission/ transfer case and fuel sending unit out of the truck. If the interior is better than mine, I will pull it too.

After that, what is the best way to sell the truck?

How much should I ask for a 02 2500 4x4 24v 130k perfect body.
