2001 vs 2003 which is #1
I drove a 03 today, 5 speed 4.10, 2500, very quiet, was not that impressed, but it does have more backseat room(quadcab), I was wondering what the pros and cons were between 01/03?
The injection pump and commonrail system. Not as vulnerable as the vp44. Id go with the 03 if you have the choice the only downside for me would be the 5 speed but thats just personal preferance
I had a 5 speed for almost two years before it was totaled. Stock, it's decent, will do what you need it to do but I put 4k in mods on it and got 525 rwhp and 996 rwtq on a stock lift pump and stock injection pump. If it's a 5 speed then it's a standard output. Mine got outstanding mpg the entire time I had it, even after the mods I could crank out 21-22+ like nobody's business, and if I drove it right about 55 on the interstate most of the time I could get better than 24, all hand calculated. The lift pumps still kinda suck, mine had the engine mounted lift pump when I bought it, which started to act up right before warranty so I got it replaced with the in-tank pump. Also one of the nice things about the common rails is the hp you can get from stock injectors, like I said, mine were stock along with the lift and injection pumps. I think it's one of the best CR engines to go into a Dodge.
