2001 lift pump

Someone told me that the lift pumps have been updated on the 98-01 models and are now being installed in the tank. Is that true. Are the lift pumps that go on the side of the block still available?

Yes, I believe these are the Carter pumps. You can get the new style Airtex pump and mount it on the block as well. I went this route last weekend.

The new replacement pump from Dodge is an in-tank type pump. I would suggest going another route. I had my lift pump replaced with a in-tank and got only 8psi fuel press. @ idle and 0psi at WOT. Just my $.02

That's 2 months longer than me! OEM lift pumps are junk.

Yes. Small pump with fuel lines on each side and a wire harness on top.

Sorry...no experience with Airdog. I had my FASS installed. It's been tooooooo many years since I've done any real wrench turning. It took a guy who knows what he is doing about 4 hours to install the FASS.

It's not too bad. First, it depends on the system you choose. The 150 and larger full systems come with a draw tube and they should be installed to prevent cavitation of the fuel. I would install some type of pickup no matter the application, but that's just me.

You also have a choice of the Raptor pumps, which is the system without the filters. These are externally adjustable and only draw the amount of fuel needed to maintain pressure. (No bypass)

In all cases, you get all the wiring, parts and pieces and a big line kit to do the install.

But I would confirm what thyp of setup you are currently running with regards to lift pump and then go from there. There are many options to the bigger dollar systems. This includes the Airtex pumps that are getting more popular, Walbro pumps, belt drive systems, camshaft conversions with 12V pump (I am running this), pusher pumps and the list goes on.

Again, I would invest in a Draw Staw for any system that does not include it as an aid to any pump. Some of the manufacturers say they aren't necessary on all installs. And that may be very true. I just seen so many issues with the factroy module, it's my standard suggestion. JMO.
