every one of these trucks are different, and there are a ton of factors that play into fuel mileage.
You are anticipating on spending close to a grand on mods to get your mileage up. How long do you plan on keeping this truck? Because for those mods to pay for themselves in fuel mileage gains is gonna take you awile unless you go the cheap way.
1. used edge (gave me no mileage increase) (300-400 bucks)
2. pay local garage to straight pipe in 3" (40-60 bucks), or DIY or cost of pipe.
3. bhaf (35-50 bucks)
These may gain you 1-2 mpgs.
These trucks get great mileage for what they are. Try running a gasser that pulls as good as the cummins, and you will go broke filling it up. Besides, you could have computer problems that throwing pricey performance mods at wont help.
Try replacing Fuel Filter
Try resetting APPS
Try shifting @ 18k-2k rpms for a whole tank.(oh yeah, your an auto,,,thats your main prob.. )
Try staying 65mph and under for a whole tank.
try some of these things before spending all that money. They might help.

With my set up I am getting 17 mpg in mixed driving. Though with my box turned up, I can suck it down to 14 mpg for a tank. This is all hand calculated. I would thank that being a two wheel drive, your mileage should be a little higher. All I know is that the best way to up the mpg's is to watch your right foot cause it likes to play when it knows you aren't paying attention.

I got approximately (hand calculated) 16.2mpg on my last 17.5 gallons of fuel. I usually only calculate the first half tank because I don't like letting it get below a quarter. Between half and a quarter I'm on the lookout for the cheapest prices.
The truck was empty; highway driving about 70mph; 40* to 60* outdoor temps.
With the camper on, I've never been below 11.5mpg....summer or winter.
btw, guages are on their way, so I can't tell you what my FP is like. Also 235/85-16 @ 80psi.

ive got a 01 look at my profile, its auto 4x4 and last week was the best my truck ever got going to new york and back to Pa. i got 625miles out of a tank that is like 19-20 and that is with a auto . my brother in laws 01 6spd does better than me,the edge box does not increase milage, mine is worse when it is on,and ive got a comp box, my fuel milage went up after i changed the injection pump when the old one went bad, every truck is different and everyone drives fifferent,i watch the overhead consols fuel milage gauge when the box is off thats how i know how much to be in the throttle,i believe that the guys on here are not lying about fuel milage,my 95 got 28mpg . should of kept that one
