1999 Dodge 3500 want to upgrade turbo

I have a 1999 5.9L diesel block 53 no cracks. want more power will be installing new hypertech hyperpac mod. It has a S&B intake and 4 inch exhuast, and amsoil extra oil filter system. Right now towing a 30 foot enclosed trailer with 4 atv. I want more power and was wondering if I need to upgrade my turbo. If so what is the best one to get. Do alot of driving on the highway and around town and moderate towing with this truck. New to this site and need help. Also there is a new vp 44 pump installed.

Semper Fi,

Chris

First step to power is to upgrade your fuel system with a Fass or Airdog etc. You will burn up a vp44 without a better fuel pump. Then get yourself a set of gauges [fuel pressure, pyro, boost] before adding any power mods. I would also check out the Edge Juice with Attitude....you will have gauges, protection, turbo cooldown timer & adjustability on the fly. If you want low end grunt....A Smarty programmer is by far the best tuner on the market for low end torque. Check it out @ www.smartypower.com

I also suggest the smarty for some extra kick, although since you have a programmer already, some injectors would be a good upgrade without removing stuff you already have.

If all you are running for extra fuel is the hyperpac, then the stock turbo will be fine for you. You'll know when you need a bigger turbo when your EGT's become unmanageable. The HX35 is good for roughly 340 clean and cool hp. Above that, it will get hot and smokey. When you start putting in more fuel, get a boost elbow to increase boost pressure. Stock, it won't help you, but when your EGT's get higher from unburned fuel, the extra air will cool it down.

ya you need gauges j lent is a great guy he knows what he talkin about. and fuel pump wise if you can afford it do everything he said. then get some injectors like jammer tips or something to move more heat/air and then get a turbo and also you should fill out your sig because all of this and your gonna need tranny work. but in terms of the pump if you cant afford a big boy (fass, air dog) check out a pro comp black on ebay like 50.00 and they are exactly like a holley blue. but we cant really suggest anything until you fill out ur sig
