1999 3500 running light upgrade?

Melted my headlight switch this weekend. Too much load on the circuit with my trailer attached.

Does anyone what wire or pin the parking lights are connected to? I want to wire in a relay just for the parking lights so I don't keep smoking the headlight switch.

Thanks,
Dave

Easiest way is to open the rear tail light and wire it from there and mount it on the inner rear fender, out of the way...

That's a good idea. All I am wanting to do is shed the load from the trailer. I may try that instead.

Thanks,
Dave

I guess '99s are wired differently than '01s ??? My '01 is setup from the factory to feed all of the trailer lights through a relay in the PDC.

I think they are. My '04 was that way. I guess it was an improvement Dodge made at some point.

I think the towing package includes a relay for the trailer, ones without run thru the switch.

On mine the flat bed, truck cab and trailer clearance lights are fed directly from the battery thru a fuse then to a switch inside. It's been that way since I bought the truck in 99, never had a problem.
