Are 02 dodges that goood
I'm sure the edge puts out more fuel than my xzt+ but I turn mine off when pulling and just run the injectors (100hp) and temps are never a problem. Do you have your wastegate closed so it won't dump air? Just some thoughts but I would upgrade the injectors and leave the box for playing.
From what I have got, It sounds like I should just fix my dodge and sell it. I bought it to pull and if it will not pull any better than my old ford with out running hot. Then why should I have it? It cost about five times the amount to run and it can't pull a trailer in a heavy head wind empty.
I could peg it out if I wanted to but 1200 is when I start backing out of it. I pull by my pyro and she's one mean machine. I don't have an edge but it sounds like you're not getting enough air. What's your boost? Does it smoke a lot? Don't give up on it because when you get it right you'll be impressed.
Where is your pyrometer probe mounted? I tow an 18,000lb 5th wheel on a regular basis and don't have egt issues unless I'm on a real steep grade and even then it's pretty manageable with the skinny pedal. My guess is your probe is mounted in the wrong spot and you have a false egt reading. Don't give up on the truck until you get more help from this forum.
It sounds like you have never installed a boost elbow for a standard transmission or a J-hook for auto, just added fuel with the edge but no air/boost. My truck when stock would run up to 1300 egt in no time with stock boost pressure but as soon as I intstalled J-hook and raised boost from 18 psi up to 23 to 25 psi range, egt would only see 900f. With my adrenaline performance box on level 2 for pulling, the egt,s barely see 1100f climbing any mountain pass.
Also check between rad and AC evaporater for a buildup of oily dirt. The rad on my truck was 60% covered and is a very commin for these trucks.

My boost is tops 19 or 20 and the truck only smokes when i first take off or get on it. Can you change your boost, If so how and what to.

I thought the chip was suppose to control all the boost and stuff.

Basically it holds the wastegate closed and won't allow it to dump the air at 19psi which will allow you to burn that extra fuel that's being dumped in by the chip. I can hit 28psi when she's pulling hard and my temps are nice and cool.
The only way to increase boost is to mechanically close the wastgate since it's not electronically controlled. Your box should have a "boost fooler" on it so you won't get an overboost code. Also, everything that I've read says that a stock airbox flows more than enough air for our engines and a K&N is the worst thing you could put on it.
A boost elbow allows you to get more boost than stock (21 lbs?) which lowers EGT's. You should be able to get 32-34 lbs of boost. What are you getting? Your Edge should have come with a boost elbow. You might also have a boost leak in your intercooler or in your intercooler boots. Read my signature in my earlier post to see my mods. Eric
Ok I have never heard of this elbow, I'm a little shocked cause I know a lot of people with dodge trucks. I feel a litte dumb, if that's all its going to take to fix it. I bought my chip used so that is probably the reason I didn't get one. I have even had techs look at my truck and they never said anything. I have one on the way now and I hope works. Will it wear out my tubro faster, I just replaced it around 7000 miles? What is to high of boost, or should I try to set it at.
So with the cold air intake, I don't need to up grade? Your the only other person I have heard say that. The other was a diesal tech for conaco. But I have heard from about everyone and there brother I need to open it up and put a cool air intake on it. Why are the K&N so bad?
One other question, When i'm going down the road and I hit a bump just right my front end goes nuts. My steering wheel starts shaking like crazy. What do I need to do to stop it? It only does it once in a blue moon, but when it does I can't control it.
Thanks for all the help so far.

You don't need a cold air intake. Search on bhaf if you're going to do anything. It has been documented that K&N lets too much dirt get in.
Get your truck running right with no dead pedal keeping exhaust temps under control.
For the steering, search on death wobble. Before you start buying parts, have someone that knows suspensions look at it & check tie rods, ball joints, steering box, steering damper & steering shaft.
Deferred maintenance sounds like you'd better ready to get out the check boo.

Listen to Junk Man he knows what he's talking about. Search death wobble and read this http://www.genosgarage.com/GenosGara...Suspension.pdf

And if I were you, I'd start doing my own maintenance (within reason) because there are a lot of jack leg mechanics out there that don't know what they're doing and these engines aren't cheap. Unless you know someone personally and their work, keep it in your garage. This board has a wealth of knowledge and very friendly people that are willing to help you with whatever you need.

do you have a 4 inch downpipe with at least 4 inch exhaust? that could be a big one. mine used to get really hot when i had the stock downpipe. not i have a 4 inch dp that goes straight into 5 inch and its much better. if you really want power dump the edge and get a quadzilla chip. there way better
