02 dodge 2500 47re won’t go into over drive

Checked truck for codes after driving it and no codes present but the p1694 so I decided to drive around for a little bit to see if I could get them to come back up. Checked again and still only the p1693, still jumping in and out of OD. You think maybe there’s a ground or two I missed?

Or maybe you have got AC noise in the DC system- set your multi meter to V AC and measure across the battery terminals with the engine running, swap red and black leads and note both values and report back.

Alright and don’t know if it matters but I wrapped my alternator wire with tin foil all the way up to the battery, herd it helps RFI’s but I didn’t get any change, also tried unplugging the alternatorand that did help either but that was 3 months ago

OK, alternator unplugged and still the same problems sounds like RFI can be ruled out- but only if you try it again with the improved grounds.
Does your scanner still cut off?

You know that if you have problems on the bus or in the power supply of the modules the transmission will freak out.
If you can read the TPS value from the PCM while driving with your scanner this could prove interesting. (See if it jumps around with the go pedal held in one position)

Alright, just got back to school so I won’t be able to test it until this Friday. Will check for ac noise at driver side battery terminals and then test ac noise on the alt power post to the passenger side negative. Also try to get a scan tool again to look at tps but I don’t remeber it acting funny but we really didn’t pay much attention to it cause of all the random codes coming up and the rpm valve going crazy and scanner disconnecting.

Crank position sensor sticks into the block close to the starter. (starter needs to be pulled to swap it.)
I don't know if your truck still has the crank position sensor.

Haven’t looked behind that start but I do have the one above the vp, going to test it while I’m checking that ground and for ac voltage. How would you go about testing the crank position sensor wiring.

I'd do a visual inspection including the connectors, and then measure the resistance of each wire while moving the wires a little- resistance should remain the same near zero.

Tested both batteries for ac voltage and got .013v on both side and got the same when swapping the leads. Got .044v ac from the passenger side battery negative to the postive on the alternator. Also do I test the ckp with the truck off

Well after taking it to a independent shop and then to the dodge dealer all I have figured out is that my pcm was fine. Dodge replaced the pcm and the truck is still doing that same exact things it was doing before. Don’t really know where to start at this point. Relay still clicks in the sending unit where I got my ign wire for my fass hooked to. Maybe bad power distribution block? Still don’t explain the charging issues. I have no voltage in the sending unit with truck off so the fass isn’t shorting to power from the sending unit. Also when the relay clicks something else in the engine clicks. Sounds like it’s between the apps and the vp44 or maybe a little below the vp.
