01 Tranny Shutter

My truck shifts fine except when pulling my trailer and it shifts into overdrive. The hole truck shutters under acceleration and will stop shuttering if I let off the accelerator. Is this an inexpensive repair or is it time for a new tranny?

Sounds like the OD clutches slipping. You may be letting the tranny shift into OD to soon (too low RPM). Try turning the OD off until you get up to about 60mph or so and then turn the OD back on and let it shift.

yes overdrive lockup under 1500 rpms, hills or heavy load, add go pedal = converter shutter. if you take off the edge does it still do it if it stops you may be able to get a trick valve body to help it. but if the converter is chewed you need to call DaveG ,DTT,or PATC and think about getting a new tranny

The OD clutch pack in the OD unit will slip long before the TC lockup clutch (unless there is an internal hemorage drastically reducing the TC clutch apply pressure).

I would bet that the "shudder" is when 4/lockup engages. Turns the front of the torque converter a real pretty shade of blue/purple from the heat it's creating from slippage.

Shutters from 62 mph up and only with OD engaged, shutters but not as bad running stock (Edge disconnected).

I had hear that the trannys are adjustable, is this true and will it help?

Still cheaper to try and adjust the bands, change the fluid and filter and see what its like.
