Your thoughts on R4 Tech by Firestone

Has anybody looked at this system?

http://www.fsip.com/misc/r4Tech/R4Te...ochure%202.pdf

Just wanted any thoughts or comments on it. They don't offer for our trucks but maybe could adapt for the new tucks.

Anyway let me know what you think.

Looks OK to me, but I think a Keldermann will be less expensive and ride better.

It's basically a weak spring supported by an air bag, with a control arm to keep from having trouble with axle wrap.

I think I saw it for around $1850. What does the Keldermann sale for?

My plan for my crew is to do a front and rear 4-link on air bags. I saw this and thought it might would be easier to build, but I want this truck to ride really smooth. So I think I will stick with my plan and 4-link.

Less than that, last I knew. Check their website for current pricing.

I was just talking with the PO of my truck last night. He said it was ~$3000 for Kelderman to install the 4 bag setup in my truck.

I have no idea what it'd be now, or if they even make it anymore, but I think that it's more than $1850....of course it's actually made for the truck...

$1100 for the front and $1350 for the back. So I was a little off...$2450 installed yourself.

SUB - $1100 for the front sounds like a pretty good price ... check that ... just saw the system on their website ... airbags over leaf springs is not going to get it done

sorry for the thread jack

I saw the system in DP - looks like precisely what wanna has described above ... decent system, but I would prefer a proper 4 link.

Does Kelderman come with a compressor and gauges, etc? I see no mention of it on their site

Negative. The Kelderman system, at least the one on my truck works like this:

The back system has one fill point under the tailgate. The bags are hooked together to load transfer

The front system has an air tank under the front bumper, which has two fill points, one for each side.

You fill em all to about 25 PSI and go.

My system is pretty old and I'm too lazy to chase down a leak, so I just refill the fronts every 2 weeks or so. I have a compressor, so it's easy.

the front kelderman system i've seen on a 1st gen one time was metal frame that came off the front axle to about the center of the transmission and bags when from this metal frame to the actual frame of the truck.

but this may have been custom. i thought it was free89w350's truck
