XM Radio in a first gen
XM Radio in a first gen
Who has it? I finally got around to activating it last night. Anyhow I now have a rats nest of wires. Looking for ideas on a nice clean install. I have the Delphi Skyfi3. I just did a little playing around with it at work since new years eves easy night with 6 hours of hobby time turned into 45 minutes of hobby time and no easy night. Maybe tonight will work out better. Just curious to see what you all got and how you went about routing and moutning the stuff.
i don't use the tuner any more only XM i love it
the wiring thing is a disaster!!!!!!! with the alarm, radio, gauges and every thing else i wouldn't now were to start to "organize"
i went with a pioneer deck and reciver about $450 with a year activation (3 months free)

I got a Delphi Roady (early model = less features) from a co-worker for Christmas several years ago... finally activated it in Feb. for the drive to Iowa to visit wifes family. I love being able to switch around to what I want to listen to...
I switch it between 4 vehicles, so I haven't got a good mounting solution yet. Will likely buy a suction mount from here to get it off the cheesy vent mount that came in the box (works fine in the summer, but gets TOO hot in the winter using the vents for heat).
I use the split wire loom for the wires... pull out enough of the individual wires for the current vehicle and rebundle the rest. I'm still looking for reasonably priced antenna/power kits though... would be great to hard mount those in my DD & CTD to eliminate the clutter.

I have a Roady2. It sits nicely in the change scoop between the cupholders on the console. The antenna wire goes behind the driver's seat then inside the molding up to the cargo light. The power and signal wires run up the trans tunnel to the dash.
I have a window mount and coil the antenna wire real nice and let the antenna sit on the dash so I can use it in my other cars or at work. If you are not taking the whole thing out run the antenna wire under the dash and tuck it under the weather strip up alongside the door then tuck it under the window rubber and leave it on the roof I had myn that way and looked good you can also find a spot under the radio and screw the mounting bracket to the dash I bought an fm modulator I think its called so it is hooked directly into my radio and then I dont get bad static like doing it wireless
I have Sirius in my rig and would never go back to reg fm. I have an older reciever on a suction mount in the left corner of my windshield so I can get to it easy while driving,I just ran my ant.wire under the trim moulding above the driver door and over the back seat out the srw. My plug is in the lighter socket with wires zip tied neatly under the dash.
