Wrong Belt.
Wrong Belt.
Hey gentlemen,
Well, I ended all the squeeling this morning, no bad bearnings or anything, just changed the belt out with the one I ordered at Autozone. Then, a few hours after I had said grace over the squeeling subsiding, I saw my temperature guage go up, or whaterever the stock guage is, checked under the hood and sure enough, little strands from the belt are spinning with It and the sides are frayed, this after being drove probly 40 miles without a bit of noise. I got to comparing the new(freshly tore up) belt, with the old belt. The belt from Autozone is just a tick over half the thickness of the original belt, and it looks like the original belt gets wider at the top, where the other belt stays the same. Anyway, has anyone had this issue? I watched the Autozone guy click the a/c option, and the intercooled option for a 93 dodge. Im gonna take the belt off and take it back to the store tomorrow, but where do I go for a belt that fits if the guys at Autozone start scratchin their heads?

Standing on the passenger's side of the engine bay, sight along the pulleys and belt and look to see the tensioner's pulley is slightly crooked compared to all the other pulleys.
This crooked pulley is usually the result of the rubber component of the tensioner degrading thus allowing the pulley's mounting arm to droop out of correct alignment. As such, the crooked pulley of the tensioner is steering the belt stupid such that the belt is being forced to ride off to one side of the pulley system's grooves. This makes the belt track up against the sides of the pulleys, chewing up the brand new belt.
You need a new tensioner, don't you're gonna chew up another new belt directly.

Yes sir, but I think its just that Toys R Us belt from Autozone, It was only 7 grooved, while the one from Napa is 8 grooved, like their sposed to be. Im going to pick up the belt from Napa, If I tear this one up too, well know its my fault, These gates belts look twice the belt of the duralast brand.
Autozone is where this American tries not to shop. If it's not in the computer it don't exist and was never made just ask these autozone monkeys here. I am forced to buy a few things there but nothing of importance and each time I go in it's fresh faces behind the counter, that should tell ya something. Sorry about the rant on those guys but come on. Burris i hope you get her going and good luck.
Thanks coal, next is Paint, A california mexican paint man just tried me at $3200 for that shiny classic black, and red under the trim. We gonna have to go lower than that.
