WOW! - 19.5 MPG on Country Highways and Interstate
I just got back from a run to Franklin Tennessee from Huntsville Alabama via Hwy 431 and I-65. I stopped in Mt. Prospect on the way back to look at a car then came back via I-65 and Hwy 53. I filled up before I left (at 2.81/gallon) and reset my trip odometer then filled up when I got back to Huntsville (at $2.59/gallon). After correcting for speedo error (I have 255/85R16 10 Ply tires instead of the factory 235/85R16 fausing my speed to be 15% slow and my odometer to be 15% under actual mileage), I went 194.7 miles on 10.02 gallons... 19.47 MPG... I never realized it was that good
I had just broke 24mpg in my 91.5, 5 speed, 3.07 geared, 4X4 before it was totaled. 100 miles hilly daily commute, mostly 4 lane freeway. Lots of mods and lots of tweaking. My 92 only get 16 to 18 at best. Diesel is at the +- $3 mark.
I used to use mine back in the day for commuting. with the cruise set @62 mph 21.7. Going to Florida @72 on the cruise 17.9. Coming back with Sunoco fuel in the tank cruise set at 65-66mph 26.7.
I have no idea on the gear as the rear was rebuilt, gear tag removed.

I have gotten a best of 26mpg in my 4x4, but that was under ideal conditions with a decent tail wind. If I go no more than 65 I can get 20 or so, but I never go 65, more like 85. That nets me about 17.
Back about 2017, made 4 trips to Las Vegas ( 60 mi south ) from S.E. corner of Okla. , to see my sister who was very sick ( she passed ) , drove my 91.5 D250 w/ OD & .454 rear ( stock ) ,, run with the traffic 75 mph. ( and most passed me ) still got 22mpg. the best was 23+ (.Don't get that w/ 3 horse slant trailer.)

I had to commute 116 miles one way 4 times a week for work in my old 1989 D250 RCLB. Replaced the 727 with a Getrag and the 3.07s really let it sip on the freeway. I don't remember the exact MPG but it took the sting off of the commute. Not too many mods just BHAF and 4" exhaust. However, this was back in 2006 so my memory fails me.
