Window Question

Hi guys im new here i went through the stickys and found one that might fix my problem. My passenger window goes down about 1in then stops and wont go up, so i took the door panel off and felt the motor while i push the button and it just freezes and gets hot even if i try helping the window down, but i can help it back up its just really hard to do so. Well i found this https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/....html?t=100536 and i am wondering if this is the problem?

Generally if the motor has suffered the failure talked about in the sticky, then the motor would spin free with no movement of the glass. The fact that the motor is getting hot, and not moving, leads me to believe that you have something binding or holding the motor from turning.

It probably can't hurt to pull the motor and see if this is your issue. If not then your motor might be toast, or you could have a binding issue in the window track?

When I had problems with my windows binding, it turned out to be the center piviot pin of the cross arm regulator assembly was rusted and binding. (Probably because of the rotted out window beltlines.) I took a dremel and cut the dimpled crimps off which held the pin together and unwound the large spring and hit the pin and collar with a wire wheel and battery post brush, greased it good, reasembled it and then placed two small spot welds with the wire feed. Mind you fingers when you unwind it, pay attention to how it comes apart and how many wraps on the spring and use vice grips to hold things in place before and after. Don't worry about the welding melting all the new grease as the spot welds are fast and don't get it that hot. Worked like a champ, the windows now fly up and down with the stock motors. I wish I had taken pictures but at the time I was not a member of DTR. I hope my directions make sense!
