Window Electric Problems
Window Electric Problems
My driver side window works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. Here lately it hasn't been working at all. The passenger side still works perfect. I've checked the wires between the doors and cab and the relays seem to be working. I did notice it seems like my truck isn't charging enough and I noticed today while stopped at a light my amp gauge was had a tiny bounce going on. When I hit the driver window button the gauge still says its drawing power. The gauge really only reads low when I have the AC on but that's even at highway speeds. Anyone experience something like this before? Any help to tracking this booger down would be much appreciated.
hello, It's probably the switch. You can get one of these and just unplug the switch. If you have power drawing from the battery this will light up.. just pull fuses or devices until the light goes out.

The symptoms my truck windows had was: after lowering or raising the window it wouldn't move unless I tried to move the window up and down.
Sometimes when it was closed it refused to open. Sometimes when the window was fully open it wouldn't close.
It turned to to be the motor.
You half to drill a hole for one of the bolts that holds the motor (1 of 3) and it comes out easily.
Switch is still OK.

Scout, I'll have to try that tomorrow. The thing that I don't understand is like 6 months ago I had the same problem but it only lasted a day and continued to work perfect without a hitch until yesterday. A few times if I turned the truck off and back on the window would work. The passenger side had a few moments too but not as bad. Another time the AC quit working as well! That led me to believe it was a relay problem but if one of the relays was bad wouldn't both windows not work? Sorry I've just always hated electrical gremlins
Thanks fellas

Sounds like a flakey truck.
If it's the ignition switch, other stuff like the radio will quit also.
When old technology DC motors near end of life, they can do all sorts of tricks. Intermittent operation is one of them. Excessive power draw is another.
Every dodge I've owned has had wires break in the loom that goes through the door hings.
