will 285-75-16's fit on our factory 16" wheels?

Also how much lift is required to fit these tires onto our rigs. I am piecing together stuff to do a RC/Cummins conversion. I already have a set of BFG all-terrains 285's that I purchased a few years back. I want the factory trim ring and dog dish look for my Ramcharger. I will be running 3.07's on my ramcharger. Is that tire just to tall? I'm thinking now I should find some 265"s. My plan is to use a getrag. I want this for a DD so fuel mileage is a big issue for me. Will never tow (what my dually's for) so towability is not a problem. I want a nice looking rig with a good stance that will still have enough butt to move from the stop light. Any helpful info is appreciated. Robert

Every truck is different. Some guys can fit 285's with no lift but people with saggy leaf springs can't fit 285's with out major rubbage.

I think it depends on offset/backspacing of the wheel too.

I think you'll be fine with the 285's, with 3.07's and 32" tire you should be able to actually use the 1st gear in the getrag! lol

Thanks Crossy. The wheels will be factory 16"s. I have always wanted to do a RC conversion. I bought the RC 2 yrs ago as a spare for my current DD. Now I have decided to swap it. I know the look I want, I am trying to find a donor truck. If I do I will use its springs and have them rearched if needed to get the tires to fit. I am so excited, I always wanted one! Here is what I am using!

4'' lift and 315's I'm not sure if 2nd gen steelies are the same width as 1st gen, but my 96 came with 315's on the steelies with trim rings and it looked sharp and didn't wear tires. Even with 3.07's, I dont' see 35's hindering the performance of a properly tuned Cummins. I've grossed over 26k with 3.54's and less than 300 rwhp and had no issues pulling hills here in the northeast.

How are you going to run 5 lug wheels with the 8 lug 3.07 axles?

i was under the impression you were converting the charger to 8 lug and putting stock 1st gen steelies on with hubcaps and rings?

I am Crossy, I bought a D60 and D71 off a 1990 W250 from a fellow member on here a few years back. The tires I am referring to are not the ones on the RC currently. They are almost new as well but they are 31x10.50 15's. I have the tires and rears in storage. They have been waiting patiently for the day to go under a new ride.

I got 285s on my stock wheels with almost level front springs and they don't rub, they get pretty close when i turn but they don't.

They should fit just fine, or else like you said, re-arch/change springs, or make drop hangers and shackles like I did. That should be a fun project, but might be a rough rider. lol
