Why would fuel be coming from the throttle shaft?

I am so sick and tired of this heap of crap. The trans fixed itself yesterday, I found out there was no outer wheel bearing on the driverside, and now from around the throttle comes fuel. What causes fuel to come from around the throttle shaft area? I am on the verge of ripping this truck apart and pawning off the parts.

probably the o-ring on the shaft itself. i think the fuel is pressurized to about 10psi in the pump housing (i could be wrong), but it's enough to sneak by a worn or split o-ring.

Shouldn't be, it's a new pump..........

I had the tps bracket off, to make the O/D work right, and when I put it back on I noticed the fuel.

Mine is leaking too. I know its a known issue with the VE i believe from reading. I believe there is a sticky with a how to. Anyway sorry to hear that its leaking even though you got a new pump. Hope things work out.

You're right about the problem. If it's a new pump, that means that the shop should have replaced the throttle shaft bushing but they didn't bother. Got any warranty on that thing?

Case pressure varies with RPM, but can be as high as 150 psi.

No warranty, it was replaced before I got the truck. I need to get some time and put the 3200 spring in. Is there anything I can do to fix it while I have the pump top off? First VE I owned was on to 340K miles and no leaky pump, this one has a fraction of that and is already junk. Man this is irritating. The truck also idles really high. Right around 1100 rpms high. I was going to monkey with that today but the fuel leak turned me away from even wanting to work on it at all. That wouldn't have anything to do with it would it?

How new is the pump? If it's a couple years old a new o-ring might fix it. Otherwise you will have to press out the old bushing and press in a new one.

It's a good excuse to install a 3200 RPM spring if you haven't already.

I have a 3200gsk on it's way. Is there a certain o-ring I need to fix this or is it an ordinary one? I don't think the pump is all that old. 2 years or so. The truck sat for quite a while before I got it.

If you have a copper bushing it wasn't replaced during the old rebuild. The replacement is a steel bushing. When you get the top removed, look for wear on the throttle shaft itself and the bushing. If it's not bad, just replace the o-ring on the throttle shaft. Bosch gasket kit DGK121.
