why not?
why not?
i have asked this question before but haven't really gotten an answer. why no waste gate? i have been looking at a 16cm housing but that doesn't have a waste gate either. while one the subject of exhaust housings i have a 12cm from a 98.5 has anyone put one of these on that runs a auto tranny? should i just wait until i can get a 16cm? thanks
16 cm doesnt need a wastegate because the turbine housing isnt so small that it would cause over spooling (generally speaking depending on fueling) like a 12 or 14 cm housing. Thats why those housings are wastegated (generally).
If your not gonna turn up your fuel, 12 would be fine with the auto. Thing with the auto is it only has to spool once. Thats why most guys run a bigger housing on the autos to keep temps down. But if you think of it that way, some of the newer trucks run the hy-9 which has a 9cm turbine housing. Sooo, just run a 16 if your gonna add more fuel. Plus, if you put on the wastegated housing you have to move your exhaust back an inch which can be a pita.
