why is my truck so slow??

my truck is sloooowww... Now I realize I have a 1stgen not a vette. But it seams that anything over 65 and the truck sounds like its going to explode.
For the longest time I was convinced the p.o installed 4.10 gears. but I finally checked the ratio... 3.55
I don't have a tach so Im going with seat of pants and sound.
any thoughts??
I bet my truck couldn't do 75 and if it could I would have to floor it. not that I want to go 75 but a lower rpm at 65 would be nice.

sounds like either your not getting fuel or something in your linkage is holding you back.

i have the same setup and i can go 95+ mph in FOURTH gear.

sounds like you really have 4.10 gears. did you check the tag or did you jack it up and count? If you are running high rpm fuel has nothing to do with it.

It's tagged for 3.55 but i jacked it up and spun the tire to check.
I can easily ride around town 30 - 35 mph in 4th gear
3rd gear is to low for around town driving. I don't even use 1st gear always take off in 2nd

Don't go by the sound, just hold down the pedal. That's what the governor is for...

I have a 4.10 rag and a 3.55 with the nv4500. You should really be able to go like hell with both. I have a stock spring in my 4.10 equipped truck and can do over 70 in 4th and close to a hundred in 5th. My 93 has 301 horses which is not a ton but it gets up and goes very well once you get moving and can get to 3rd gear. You have an issue there somewhere. Talk Luke into tuning it for ya.

hows your high Idle bradshaw? Threw me off like heck in my dually! You can't go by sound cause 3000rpm sounds like 6000rpm in a gas job.

You gotta stop by sometime for a beer man.

Read the sticky about moving the throttle linkage and adjusting the high idle screw. And make sure you are getting full throttle have someone step on the pedal and look at the pump to see if it is touching the high idle screw.
