I've got straight 4" to dual 5" stacks and with the windows up it's not bad, but with the windows down and back slider open; look out. I'm wearing earplugs on long hauls though.

 

thanks for all the help guys, your making me dang sure feel better about going to a 1st gen. hey pwrtripls1, i actually live in katy now and i'm only about 10 minutes away from the hooters on i-10 near mason, i'd like to see your set up, i have a set of 7 inch turnouts off of my 24 valve that are just sitting at the house, would like to hear a 1st gen with stacks in person.

 

I just got home from work, you could swing by my house or we could meet up. I live just on the north side of I-10, on Mason Rd.

I would also think the 24v and CRs are louder because of the fact they have 24 valves. Meaning, more air in+more out=louder

 

wow.. quiet? My truck is really loud, but I have no baseline, because its my first first gen (actually first diesel). Its difficult to talk on the phone in the cab at all. I love the way it sounds though, 4" straight pipe all the way back. I actually want it quieter (is that blasphemy or something?)
