Whats Your Opinion?

First off just want to say hello to everybody at DTR cause i am new here.
Took my front springs off my 91.5 w250 because they had major negative arch to them and was getting a bad popping noise off of the drivers side. Called the spring shop and told the main owner that the lower springs in the stack are wearing into the springs just above them, and he said they should be replaced. Then he told me that while i was that far into it to cut the spring hangers off the frame (the ones just under the cab) and bring them with the springs and they would rebush everything. I get everything to the shop and the main shop foreman said the springs are fine and had to argue with him to just get him to rearch them and gain 2 inches, And he only gained me 1.5 inches. Then told me all bushings are fine to run 'em. Truck has 260,000 miles on everything. I don't know maybe the best bushings dodge ever used, but i don't think my battle with front springs and bushings are over. Today i plan on putting everything back together and see what happens. I don't think i had a good experience at the spring shop. Whats your guys 2 cents?

Hey welcome to the DTR!!

At 260,000 I'd do the spring bushing regardless. Sounds like one guy wanted to do things right, the other just wanted to go home. I think you need to find another spring shop.

Yes, do all the bushings. Also make sure the front mounts aren't loose on the frame. Even new OEM springs sit almost flat with maybe a 1/2" positive arch. Check your steering box mount plate while your there, they love to crack.

Yes, what he said....

My springs are doing the exact same thing. They're worn into the main spring nearing 1/8", and will need replacement this summer. I'm taking the springs off, and having new bushings / new main spring installed with 2" lift to accommodate the plow setup. Jungle hopefully is going to set me up with new perches / HD shackles.

Replace it while its off. Your spring guy just wants you to come back later and have to redo the bushing at a later date.... so he can make more money off of you.

What the hay ? Does he think he's a doctor or lawyer ?

Thumbs up

Thanks for the tips fellas. Put the rearched springs back on yesterday and yes it did help a great deal, but still not satisfied.
I have heard of this Jungle and have stumbled on to the spring perches or or hangers for the front springs that have new bushings in them already, also with new hardware. Can't find them again. Could you point me in the right direction to get the right parts, cause i'm not afraid to tear it down again and do it right. Thanks!

Anytime....

This site has helped me tremendously in the couple months I've been here. More than happy to return the favor.
