Whats your opinion on this oil

I know I should go ahead and sign up on "Bob the oil guy" site, but...

http://www.alexisoil.com/pdf/HDAXSAE15W40SAE3040.pdf

Anyway, I have unlimited access and supply to this oil. I use my personal '05 Dodge Cummins in the oilfield and put about 5000 miles monthly on it. Unfortunatly, the costs of changing oil every month is almost $100 per month (I use Rotella T 5W 40 and Fleetguard filters). If you think this oil would be acceptable to use in my truck, please let me know. I am not sure what I am looking at on the above PDF page linked. I do know we use this for our NG engines and change the oil at 1080 hrs of running at 1800 to 2000 RPM 24 hrs a day in a harsh enviroment and it works very well for that.

Thanks for your insight

I would not even consider it...
TBN is 4.2 TOO LOW
ZDDP doesn't even get above 320ppm TOO LOW
Low acid number 1 (normal around 2.5)
API CD /CF OBSOLETE FOR YOUR SPECS

I would stick with your Rotella...This oil is for NG engines.

What D-Roc said, Below is all I would need to know.

APPLICATIONS
Chevron HDAX Low Ash Gas Engine Oils are
recommended for four-stroke and selected two-stroke
stationary engines fueled by NATURAL OR SYNTHETIC GAS
and GAS from digester and landfill sources.

Thanks, and yes I understand that. Kinda like bottles of 2 stroke oil also says its for two stroke engines only, but we like to run that in our fuel...

Thought I'd ask since I just did not know if the specifications listed were good or bad for use in a HD oil or not. Stuff works great for our GM 350, 454, & 502's

Thanks again for your input.

sounds like you should think about switching to synthetic and get yourself an oil analysis, and look into longer intervals. maybe then youd be able to change oils and/or your filter every 10k.

You need a TBM of at least 10.
