Whats the advantage of having a pull cable shutdown?

I see a few guys on here have whats called the "pull cable" shut down. I'm assuming this is like 95% of tractors out there. What are the advantages to this? Isn't shutting the motor down, shutting the motor down? Could someone enlighten me?

Thanks

Lucas

You become pretty independent of electricity. More reliable etc etc etc. I don't think it's any better for the engine.

The advantage is not having to buy a new shutdown solenoid every time you make a full power high RPM run.

Many trucks that are turned up a bunch eat the solenoid plungers at an alarming rate.

Ah that makes sense then. I've seen at my local napa some generic choke cable setups. I think that would work no? Does anybody have some pictures of their setup?

Thanks,
Lucas

Should work fine. I think it was FeartheDeere who had a piece of baling wire with a fence insulator for a handle. It doesn't have to be complex.

Right Begle, I forgot about the cool factor. I can't wait for that cool factor to go through the roof!

At the shop, I get to see about every kind of rigging that there is.

Hardly a Dodge/Cummins, over five years old, comes in that doesn't have some kind of a homemade kill cable.

I have seen everything from grass-strings with a loop over the turn-signal lever, to baling wire with a corn-cob handle.

Do those fence insulators come in like different colors and stuff? I'm probably going with a medium camel colored interior and don't want to blow it on coolness.... Seems like basic white would be a little tacky. I'll look for black to match the dash *****. Anybody got a link for black fence insulators?
