what is involved

wounding how hard it is to put the cummins in a gas truck? i have a 92 cummins wiring and everything and i was thinking of buying a 82 4x4 gas dodge to put it in. are the engine mounts the or at least in the same place?

Shouldn't be too much work to do that swap. Intercooler wont fit a pre 91.5 trucks so you'll have to change the radiator, core support, grille and asscociated sheet metal.

i would be in luck then this engine has no intercooler anymore was wrecked truck. but the mounts are the same?

Wanna is right, but the tranny mount will need to be moved back, new holes drilled. The engine crossmember is the same, but you'll need to cut a slot in it in the driverside for the Cummins engine mount. You'll find if you don't have the entire donor truck, it will be hard, expensive and time consuming.

i had the donor truck the only thing i didn't keep was the cab itself

That's fine. Hope you didn't do like me and allowed the slave cylinder bracket to go to the scrap yard with the cab.

well so far it is still looking like this plan is not going to work out i will have to go with my original plan which was to strech out a ford 4x4 drw for my crew cab dodge cab and put the cummins in that. i all ready have the ford stuff

I put my cummins in a 1988 W100 shortbed stnadard cab and i didnt have to drill slots or anything it just all fell in like it was meant to be there. I used a 727 trans and that was the same trans that got taken out so i didnth vae to change trans mounts.
