what gets wired to the ksb?

ok guys i did a cummins swap awhile back n only hooked up the fuel shut off, never knew there was such a thing as a ksb, and the benefits of it. So.... what is it exactly that i have to wire into it? im guessing a boast reference sensor of some sorts? n is it located sumwhere on the intake manifold? or do i have to go buy a sensor n try n get it workin?

thanks -karl

Just run a switched power source to it. It advances timing for cold starts something like 5*. Lots of people hotwire them to gain an extra 5* of timing (such as myself). You can leave it alone if you don't care. Normally it pulls a signal from the intake air temp sensor in the manifold. If you don't have one I really wouldn't worry about it.

air temp sensor to PCM to KSB pretty sure. Put it on a hobbs switch set at 12PSI or so..
It increases your fuel supply pressure to the injectors advancing your timing like said above.

It goes from the FSS, fuel shut off solienoid, to an air temp sensor that is in the back of the intake plate, then down to the KSB. So it gets key on power to the temp sensor then the temp sensor is either open (over 49* I think) or it closes if under the temp and sends power down to the KSB.
But you can just do like most everyone else and put it on some type of switch to try and keep a little pressure in the case of the pump.
Good luck and I hope that made some since?

you dont need a toggle if theres power to the fuel shutoff. actually a toggle is best on a dyno or during a race. if its left on (accidentally of course) its not good for the pump. im going to try and write this from memory so forgive me if anythings not accurate.

power goes to the fuel shut off. the fuel shut off has 2 spades on it, one youre already using. take power from the other spade and go to the intake temp sensor (on the back of the intake). there should be 2 wires on there. a dark one and a white one. i believe the dark one is power in then the white one is power out. send power from the fuel shut off to that black wire. then take the power from that white wire coming out of the sensor and run it to the KSB (on the side of the injection pump).

Thats how it is from the factory. If you want to have a KSB hot wire you just put a switch around the intake sensor (switch between the black and white wires i spoke about above) and just turn that on when max power is a must and no real other time. Thats how you do it if the wiring is set up the same way it was from the factory (or in the description in the previous paragraph)

Was your Cummins intercooled from the factory?

Not sure what year your engine is. I believe early 5.9's had a "wax motor" KSB that recieve constant power after warm up.
