How much do you think it would help my fuel mileage if I pulled my injectors and had them rebuilt?

I had almost 300,000 miles on the truck when my odometer broke about 6 years ago, so obviously I cannot calculate my mileage correctly. (For now I am just recording the hours)

It still runs fine, there is no excessive smoke and it will start within one revolution.

Just hoping it could get a few MPG, but I should probably replace them anyhow.

What do you think?

For that price, you can get a set of new Bosch 190 injectors, PODs, or something better from Piers.

My vote, if you're wanting to get the injectors replaced, go with the Bosch 190s. You'll get a little more power and probably 1 or 2 mpg.

 

I would love to have the extra horsepower but what do they consider "Moderate Smoke Levels" I live in Southern California and I do not want anything that is going to smoke the cars out behind me, if I did as soon as the smoke cleared the car behind me would be a CHP car.
I live by the SCAQMD where they encourage your fellow motorist to turn you in if they see the slightest bit of smoke.

I have already been caught in my 6.2 I had before my Dodge and they are getting worse.

i agree, upgrade moderately to new 190's, you can turn down the smoke screw and hold fueling to boost, with the normally asapirated 6.2 puking smoke at will, what did the scamd do about the vehicle, im just repowering a '82 jimmy that had a rare 6.2, (with a 4bt) a labled smoker. have you altered your exhaust housing?

 

He's got nonIC'd injectors which are bigger than everything sold for 1st gens minus POD's and custom EDM's. He doesn't want to lose power and mpg's. Someone good with math can figure this out, many miles would you have to drive at $4.79 a gallon of fuel to recoup the cost of rebuilt or new injectors. Given they gain you any mpg's. My vote would be put the money into the fuel tank or upgrade just about everything, turbo and injectors to where you'll have more power and it will take less fuel to move your truck etc.

It could even go the other way and hurt mileage.

Either way, it will take a lot of driving to regain the money spent.

If it starts good and runs good, I would leave it be.

Just hold out a few more months and the new administration is going to drop fuel back under a buck-a-gallon and issue re-imbursement checks to those that have suffered from the high prices.
