What are the differences between Getrag transmission tops?
I've seen 2 different style Getrag tops, screw on stick and bolt on stick. Do any other variations exist, are there any differences, and can these 2 be interchanged on the same transmission? While we're at it, are there any other Getrag differences over the years? Thanks
The differences between the sticks, and the case styles are the only differences I know of.
The stub difference is obvious- one style has the shifter screwing onto the top of the stub; the latter (93) has two bolts that attach the stick to the side of the stub.
The case style differences (early and late style): early style forces you to remove the reverse idler assembly to get the counter shaft cluster out. New style allows removal of the counter cluster while keeping the reverse idler in place.
Everything else should interchange.
