rear main seal
rear main seal
alright im going to be pulling the transmission out of my truck this week/weekend and i see the rear main seal is leaking so what does it involve to get that seal out? do i need to drop the pan and get it from in there, or can i work with it right from where the fly wheel is?, i dont exactly want to drop the pan to badly, i just had my episode with that one.
The only thing that has to come off is the flywheel or flexplate.
I carefully drill 2 holes and put 2 screws into the seal and pry it out. Clean everything up, make sure the crank is dry and not damaged, then install the new seal.
