Id suggest when you buy your axle joints to make sure you get the ones with the grease
fittings . So you can always keep them lubed ...

10-4 on that. Bought 2 at napa today, kind o pricey though, $54 a piece. But they are greaseable.

I had a problem were when I would turned the wheel it did some to come back. I had to force it back straight. Come to find out that it was the clock spring behind the steering will. It had came apart and was twist up. I find it out any I had no cruise control any more.

Not sure if that will help but some info.

That's exactly what mine was doing. Everything is back together now and will test drive tomorrow to see if it fixed it.

I read this thread for the first time just now.

Of the many part-time 4x4 set-ups that I have had experience with, not a single one would behave as you would figure they should.

With everything UN-LOCKED and transfer-case in 2WD, you can take hold of the front shaft and spin it with ease, assuring that everything is free; but, drive the truck down the road and the front shaft and axles spin like crazy.

I have witnessed many cases where the 4x4 was NEVER locked in, yet the front axle U-joints and the front drive-shaft U-joint and C-V-joint were worn out completely, simply from coasting along.

One would think that with everything un-locked and supposedly FREE that it would just hang there dead and go along for the ride, but that is not the case.

To demonstrate this, fix up a card-in-the-spokes type noise-maker on the front shaft, or attach a bright colored stiff plastic flipper on the shaft, down close to the front differential, and observe from the sidewalk while someone drives the truck past.

Mysterious, I know, but true; believe it or not.
