Weight Estimate
I am looking for an estimated weight of 92 W250 rolling chassis. It is basically just a cab (minus doors and interior), front fenders and hood. The bed, engine and trans/xfercase have been removed.
Thanks,
Chris

I am not sure of an exact weight, but I would add more than 300# for a pair of Dana 60/70 axles. I would think those axles weight more like 300# or more a piece, even more with rims and tires.
If I was looking for a shipping weight I would call it at least 2000# to cover my bases.

Dana Corp lists the D70, minus "braking equipment" at 300lbs. I would say that a dressed out D60/70 with wheels and tires is closer to 500lbs. From what I could tell the Dana Corp listing was for the housing, carrier assembly, axles, and hubs.

I would say 200#s is about right

If I load a D70 rear and D60 front, minus rims and tires, onto the forks on my mini dozer (Magnatrac MT6000) it will pick them up about 3 feet and teeter totter. Dozer weighs about 4500lbs rear weight bar weighs an additional 500lbs. I know that it will lift 800lbs to 7 feet. They're heavier than you think.
DD: Why are you scrapping the rears? There is usually a pretty good market for them. At least for the king pin D60. A lot of rock crawlers want them because they are narrow.

Actually that is a long story, which I will cover in a separate post. Basically I just bought the 92 W250 rolling chassis and I am going to be towing it home in a couple of weeks. My W250 is not up to a 700 mile trip right now, so I wanted to find out if the rolling chassis was light enough to pull on a car dolly behind my wife's 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The pinion is snapped off on the D60, but the D70 is supposed to be in good shape and the frame and cab are rust free. I am not going to scrap anything, but will end up selling the parts I don't use.
