well the pump is changed. Looks like the OEM pump was what I had on there. Made in england and concentric on it. I went with the new one from carquest. Construction was very similar between the old and new pumps. About the only difference is the impleller metal looks slightly thicker on the OEM pump. The old pump was seized hard and the shaft cocked slightly which probally has been like that for a long time. I have had a little squeak and the belt rode not quiet centered on the tensioner even after a new tensioner and belt. I bet that pump has been going bad for sometime and never leaked one drop.

The little "scoops" turn just the opposite of the direction that it would appear that they would work best.
A centrifical pump slings the fluid. It does not scoop. The suction is in the center.

Neither did my pump leak, not a single drop, until it all poured out the hole where the shaft was supposed to be :

For a couple days prior to my episode, I had been hearing a slight squeek at idle; but, with ice cold rain pouring, cold, wet, and miserable, I neglected to raise the hood and observe the pulleys, just figuring everything being soaking wet was the cause of the little noise.

I bet if I had of watched the belt/pulley while idling, I possibly would have seen it wobbling; but, on the other hand, there hadn't been any evidence of coolant loss, nor tell-tale anti-freeze odor, which most likely would have been were the shaft wobbling enough to see it.
