Question Wastegate and other questions

I have been reading the turbocharger FAQ on the dodgeram.org site. Some things have me confused. Does my '92 have a wastegate? If so it doesn't look like my dads 94. Also what type of engine is my 160 hp? ( B type?) And one more question. Does anyone know about the repair manual cds on ebay for dodge trucks? Do they cover much on the CTD? Hey you ain't gonna learn much if you dont ask questions!!

89 to 93 have no wastegate, 94 up does. These turbos are smaller and spool up quicker so the gate is installed. Think all 5.9 6cys are refered to as ISB series. Dont know on the manuals. would be nice to have a good one.

One last thing on wastegates not answered here, a wastegate limits the high rpm on the turbo,if you go smaller than a 16 housing at higher speeds the turbo become less effective so the wastegate slows it down to its effective range

Our engine is known as the 6BTA (6 cylinders, B series, Turbocharged, Aftercooled), or the 6BT for the non-intercooled trucks. The ISB came out in '98.

Just wanted to thank all of yall for the replys. I have received a lot of useful info here on this site. I bypassed my pcm voltage regulator ok (although I still have alternator problems which I strongly believe are the brushes.) Hope I am off this weekend to change them out. I'm also gonna adjust my rear brakes.(more info I received from here). As soon as Christmas is over and all the grandkid spending is over I'm gonna definately invest in a manual. (Maybe Santa will bring one!!) Anyway, thanks again!
