wait to start light flashing while at highway speeds

on a 92 ctd the wait to start light will sometimes flash at highway speeds, esp. under load. If I ease up on the throttle, the light goes out and may stay out. any suggestions

According to Alldata,

The Wait-To-Start lamp will flash ON and OFF if the charge air temperature sensor input to the engine controller is above maximum value or below minimum value. If either of the previous conditions occur, a fault code will be stored in the engine controller's memory.
Does it only happen on hot days? How is your air intake housing? Any cracks or air leaks inside the engine compartment? BTW - 59*F (15*C) is the low end, I am not sure what the max value is. Perhaps someone can chime in...

I am not an expert - haven't seen this error, but it can't hurt to check.

I have only had the truck for a few months now, so I can't speak about the colder temp. The air intake seems fine, I have a new k&n filter on. It gets warm here (Ontario), but not excessively so. The dealer here is unable to give me any advice. I may have a problem with the vacuum, (cruise control does not work), but other vacuum operated items do.

I will try to see if a code is set.

Thanks

Probably a bad wire or a bad sensor. It's supposed to flash if you unplug the sensor.

i can second what wanna has to say. its the sensor on the top of the motor, drivers side, closest to the intake horn. if you unplug it the light will flash. start there and check the connection.
